Mary Emma Crenshaw Thompson, 100, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at First Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Tom Steiner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 until the funeral hour at First Christian Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Pee Dee, KY she was born September 4, 1922 the daughter of the late Thomas A. Crenshaw and Mary Elizabeth Simmons Crenshaw. She was the bookkeeper and office manager for C.W. Young Tobacco Company.
She was the oldest member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, served as a deacon, and was active member in Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a forty year member of Casky Homemaker Club, active with League of Women Voters, the Christian County Democratic Women's Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: Thomas Thompson; her sister: Susan Pool.
Survivors include her daughter: Jill Sharp of Hopkinsville, KY; her son: Thomas "Pick" (Rose) Thompson of Hopkinsville, KY; her grandchildren: Scott (Julie) Sharp of St. Petersburg, FL and Nicholas (Heather) Thompson of Huntsville, AL; her great grandchildren: Sierra and Seth Sharp and Wilder and Shepherd Thompson.
Memorial contributions are suggested to First Christian Church.
