Obituary of Matthew T. Craig
Matthew T. Craig, 47, husband of Dena Pauline Valentine Craig, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He was born in Versailles on March 9, 1975 to Linda Kay Goldey and Robert D. (Lee) Craig. He was a member of Mt Freedom Baptist Church, the Frankfort County Fair Board, Consultant to the State Fair Board, and a Show Chairman for North American Livestock Show for Salers Breed.
Matt was an Elite Cattlemen and breeder for Salers Association, exhibiting cattle nationwide. He also judged local cattle shows of various breeds. He was a mentor, advisor, and "Honorary Show Dad". He loved contributing to 4-H programs and FFA; playing advocate for children to get into livestock and agriculture. He loved teaching junior show kids about showing cattle and how to care for them. Matt was loved by so many people; he loved his grandchildren, family, and fellow cattleman. He knew no strangers and was always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping at Cumberland Lake, UK Sports, and was a "Cornhole Champion". Matt was known for his quick-witted sense of humor, and he always rooted for UK and whoever played against Louisville"
In addition to his wife of 6 years and his parents, he is survived by his children, Mattie Craig (Darryl), Frankfort, Cierra Owens, Burgin, and Todd (Creona) Craig, Hustonville; his sister, Wendy (Jamie) Chesser, Willisburg; his brother, Dan (Katrina) Craig, Willisburg; his grandchildren, Wyatt Craig, Knox Owens, and Whitley Owens, many nieces, and nephews as well as his true friend and family member, Derrick Brown.
Services will be held at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Versailles Ky on Tuesday 12/27 at 11:30 am with dinner to follow. Family will be there to receive guest's at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local FFA and 4-H Associations. Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd is in charge of arrangements.
