Norman Allen McCarthy

Mr. Norman Allen McCarthy, 82, died Wednesday night (June 29, 2022) at Memorial Satilla Health.
He was born May 27, 1940 in Bickley to the late William Allen McCarthy and Lillian Virue Fales McCarthy. Norman graduated in the last class of Waresboro High School in 1958. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served for six years. Norman retired from Bank of America as a loan manager, and because he was a master plumber, he enjoyed working at Farr's Plumbing Supply after retirement for several years. He was a member and deacon emeritus of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church, member of the Waycross Lion's Club, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and past Scoutmaster of Troop 314.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dr. William McCarthy, Faye Simmons, Gail Aberson and Bonnie Lee.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carroll Roberson McCarthy of Waycross; four children, Norman Allen McCarthy, Jr. (Leslie) of Brunswick, Stephen Ashley McCarthy (Sherry) of Waresboro, Jeffrey Kevin McCarthy of Waycross, and William Daniel "Danny" McCarthy (Mariela) of Athens; eight grandchildren, Beth Leach (Tommy), Andrew McCarthy, Sarah McCarthy, Alex McCarthy, Lucas McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Kyle McCarthy (Victoria) and Marie Reyes; six great grandchildren, Olivia McCarthy, Ruby Leach, Silas Leach, Judah McDonald, Carroll Anne McCarthy, and Norma McCarthy; one sister, Diane McCarthy Hayman of Waycross; sister-in-law, Dr. Patricia McCarthy of Telmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (July 2, 2022) at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Offerman Cemetery. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Sweat Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 510 W. Blackshear Ave, Waycross, GA 31501.
