Patricia B. Markey

Patricia Burnette Markey (nee Gottlick), 93, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on August 21, 2023, at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27 from 2-6 pm (Rosary at 4 pm) at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Monday, August 28, at Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church, 1571 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains, NJ. Interment will be immediately following Mass at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Patricia was raised in Westfield where she graduated from Holy Trinity High School, worked at J.P. Irving Co. and met and married her husband, Edward. Over the next 57 years, they built a home and raised a large family of 9 children in Scotch Plains where she lived until her death. After her youngest child was in school, Patricia worked for Allstate Insurance Company for 15 years until her retirement. She was a long time parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Scotch Plains and a member of the Rosary Altar Society.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many, Patricia is survived by her loving children Patricia Middleton (Randy, dec.) of Lafayette, CO, Cynthia Miller (Bruce) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Mary Ellen Quinn of Scotch Plains, Maureen Sewell (Mark) of Roanoke, VA, Edward J. Markey lll of Brick, NJ, Colleen Pomerantz (Gary) of Tewksbury, NJ, Jeanne Marie Schroeder (Geoff) of Rumson, NJ, Eileen Cardenas (Arnie, dec.) of Union Township, NJ, Timothy Markey (Stephanie) of Lovettsville, VA, 25 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and sister, Geraldine E. Mielach of Pottersville, NJ.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward James Markey Jr., and their precious, infant daughter Elizabeth Anne, her parents, Edward and Evelyn Gottlick, and her brother, Richard C. Gottlick.
Patricia brought her own joy and deep love of her faith to those around her. Her caring compassion, thoughtfulness and selfless nature were especially felt by her family and friends and will forever be a legacy treasured by all who were blessed to know her. May the angels lead her to Paradise.
