Pearl Bernadette Nader (nee LeBlanc), age 87, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully Sunday June 12, 2022 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Gahanna, Ohio. Born in Portland, Maine and resident of Rocky River, Ohio for over 30 years and most recently Gahanna. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Nader, father Aurelle LeBlanc, and mother Ann LeBlanc, brothers, Joseph and Edward, granddaughter Elyse Boester and former husband, James D Martin. Pearl lived a life many only dream of; starting off in Maine, then at the ripe old age of 18, during the Korean War, she joined the Women's Army Corp. serving two years stationed in Georgia, Virginia and New York City. After discharge from the Army she worked for an attorney in New York City and after a year, she returned to Portland, Maine where she worked at a TV station and was a model for the Porteous Department Store. In 1959 she met her husband and father of her 5 children. She would spend the next 20 years supporting his Coast Guard Career and raising their children as they traversed the country living in the south, Alaska, Hawaii, and the mid-west, finally settling in Ohio in 1977. During her years traveling she was active in the Coast Guard Officer's Wives Club, hosting luncheons, dinner parties and participating in fundraisers. While managing a household of teenagers, she obtained her LPN certificate from Lorain County Community College and started her career as a nurse in 1980. She worked at St. John's Hospital in Westlake, Ohio and then spent the rest of her career at Kaiser Permanente in Lakewood, Ohio, retiring in 2001. She was an accomplished oil artist, vocalist and seamstress, and in her later years mastering machine embroidery. Pearl loved to cook, and her lasagna was a masterpiece. She was quite the outdoors woman and spent many summers with her family camping. Nothing made her happier than being around her children, grandchildren and extended family; and her family was happy to be around her. She never missed an opportunity to attend a special outing, party or dinner out with her loving children. Over the years she remained the rock of the family and her steadfast support, she has provided many family members and friends cherished memories of her love and caring. She is survived by her children, Karen Boester (Greg), Deborah Martin-Smedal (Greg), James D. Martin, Jr., Michael Martin (Andrea) and Linda Martin; grandchildren, Tara Hall-Shepherd (Troy), Erin Popplewell (Brian), Scott Hall (Sarah), Lyla Smedal, Briar Williams, Ashley Martin, Eric Martin; great grandchildren, Taryn, Ruby, Anna, Audrianna, Karissa, Heath, Nolan, Hazelee, and Marleigh; sister, Mary Deana Verrill, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
