Randy Pope

Randy Pope, 60, resident of the Scott's Store community, Mount Olive, left his disease strickened body to obtain eternal rest in the early hours of Thursday morning, November 10, 2022, while at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Randy had been employed as supervisor at Butterball and later at Smithfield Foods in Kinston. He is being remembered as being a kind and gentle guy, slow to anger, and always willing and ready to help his neighbor or fellowman. An all-out fan of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing the grass, and keeping the lawnmowers and other yard equipment in good operating condition for himself, friends, and neighbors.
Among Randy's survivors are his wife, Renee Best Pope, of the home; two sons, Darren Pope and wife, Hannah, of Hampstead, and Randy Joe Pope of Mount Olive; several beloved grandchildren; a sister, Mary Kelly Stephens of Lumberton; a brother, David Pope of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with burial following at Wayne Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Bartlett and the Rev. Dolores Summerlin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.
