Raymond Gent Obituary

Ray was born in Youngstown, OH on September 27, 1941 to the late Thomas & Edith Gent and had lived in the Akron area for nearly 60 years. Ray served his country as a Corpsmen for the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Following his service in the Navy, Ray worked as an Akron Police Officer, retiring as a detective in 1994 and continuing as a reserve for another 10 years. Ray was a member of the FOP Akron Lodge #7. He was an avid outdoorsmen. Ray loved to fish and hunt and was an award winning trap shooter. He especially enjoyed his annual pheasant hunts in South Dakota.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife Judith; he is survived by his sons Kristopher (Kristina) Gent & Daniel (Wanda) Csaky and daughters Angela (Ted) Younessi & Shannon MarLett; grandchildren Alaina, Riley, Brian, Leah, Brennan, Evan, Jenna, Adam, & Joshua, along with numerous great-grandchildren; sister Barbara (Fred) Mondok.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 11 am to 1 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

Came on with Ray.....walked two man beat with him, car 20 , fill
cars....8-4am.....out to dinner with our wives, Ray was smart,
quick and dependable, loved his cats!.....he will be missed I'm sure.

Gent Family,
I worked with Ray in the Patrol Division and Radio. He was a first class Street Cop and a good friend. He was a genuine legend when he Dispatched calls from the radio room. Never got exited and always professional. Along working with Ray I have hunted with him and still remember his Ithica over and under SG. First class what ever he did. We are going to miss Ray. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest in Peace Brother.

Great Officer fun to be around. Can on together and enjoyed being around Ray. Time just flew since 1968 when we started. May he rest in God Great Arms, another Great Angle heads Home, Thanks Ray for all the wonderful Memories, until we meet again my Friend!
