Challie was born on December 26, 1952 in Wilkes County to Joseph Hill and Dorothy Mae Osborne Lunsford.
Challie was an outdoors man who enjoyed westerns, racing, hunting and fishing.
Challie is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Lunsford; wife, Gwen Lunsford; brothers, Chavis, Richard and Donald Lunsford; sisters, Janice Mason, Jolean Gregory, Shirley Worley and Ruby Johnson.
Challie is survived by his son, Robert "Shane" Lunsford of Todd North Carolina; daughter, Angelia Lunsford; 2 grandchildren, Autumn and Caden; 5 step children, Crystal, Lori, Paula, Paul and Becky; 9 step grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Jones and husband, Johnny of Johnson County Tennessee, and Euelene Parker of Roaring River.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 12:00- 12:45 at the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel in Moravian Falls. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel at, 2109 Moravian Falls Road. The burial will take place at the Church Family Cemetery on ML Church Road in Wilkesboro. Pastor Randal Milsaps will be officiating.
In addition to flowers memorial donations may be given to Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes, P.O. Box 396 Moravian Falls, NC 28654.
