Ronald (Ron) Keith Norberg, age 91, died in his home on September 23, 2024.
Ron was born December 10, 1932 in Carlton, Minnesota to Mabel (Lunquist) Norberg and Victor Norberg, whose families immigrated from Sweden to Minnesota. He graduated in 1950 from Denfeld High School in Duluth, Minnesota. Ron enlisted in the US Air Force and spent 3 ½ years as a medic in Korea during the Korean War. He earned two awards: a Korean War
Service Award and a United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1953.
After his military service, Ron moved to Orange County, California and studied as a steel
engineer/draftsman at Long Beach City College where he met his wife Valora Hobson. They
were married on May 8, 1954, and had two children, Victor Lynn and Connie Louise.
Ron was employed as a steel engineer during the construction of Disneyland in Anaheim, CA.
He worked on the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse there. As they were building Walt Disney
World in Orlando, Florida, Ron was flown back and forth to work on the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse there. He decided to move his family to Windermere, Florida in 1968 to work for a steel engineering firm working on Magic Kingdom.
With his expertise in steel work, Ron started a swimming pool construction company called
Skipper Pools. He then began designing spas and started Hydro-Spa, a factory for the
production of acrylic spas.
After retirement, Ron enjoyed horse racing, golfing, and weekly breakfast with friends at the College Park Diner.
Ron is survived by his wife Valora (Hobson) Norberg, his daughter Connie (Norberg) Strohm,
son-in-law Rodney Strohm, son Victor Norberg, daughter-in-law Beverly Norberg,
granddaughters Sydney (Norberg) Slavens and Paige Norberg and grandsons Ryan Norberg
and Eric Norberg.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Victor Norberg; siblings Shirley (Norberg) Smith of Nevada, Robert Norberg of Wisconsin, Joanne (Norberg) Maxwell of Texas and Virginia "Ginny" (Norberg) Sheldon of Nevada.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date
