SARANAC LAKE – Roy Frederic Rosenbarker, 75, died peacefully at his daughter's home in Beekman on April 21, 2024.
Born in Potsdam on March 9, 1949, he was the son of the late Bert and Irene (Fletcher) Rosenbarker. Roy attended and graduated from Parishville Hopkinton Central School and Paul Smith College. He proudly served in the US Army as a member of the Army Security Agency with a tour in Vietnam.
Roy married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Champney, on August 30, 1969. After his military service, they settled in Saranac Lake. Later, they built their log home in Lake Clear where they raised their family and enjoyed many happy times with grandchildren.
Roy held numerous jobs throughout his lifetime. One he was most proud of was the rebuilding of Cottage #2 at Knollwood after it was destroyed by fire. His work ethic and honesty were demonstrated in all his endeavors.
Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a past member of Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club. He was a past member and president of the Franklin County Federation of Fish and Game Clubs. He was a member of the original High Peaks Use Management Planning, and a member of the Trout Brook Club. In the last few years, he enjoyed just being at his hunting camp for the peace and solitude nature offered.
He and Bonnie enjoyed many trips with their RV seeing the country and enjoying warm weather in the south during winter months.
He loved working with his chainsaw and his tractor. Roy was a people person and could converse with anyone and everyone (which he did).
Roy was predeceased by his parents, and a brother Vern.
Roy is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his son, Todd Rosenbarker of Savannah, GA; his daughter, Nichole Corrigan (Daniel) of Poughquag; his grandchildren, Brenna and Brendan Corrigan, Emily, Susan and Serena Stevens, and Harmonnie Paye; his great-granddaughter, Adelynn Stack; his brother, Guy (Beth) Rosenbarker; and many nieces and nephews.
May we never forget our Veterans – Agent Orange has taken another soldier too early!
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., Hopewell Junction. Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Lake Free Library.

Roy and I served together in Vietnam and on our return home at Fort Meade. I made numerous trips up north to enjoy his, Bonnie´s and the families hospitality. I so bummed I wasn´t able to see him during my planned motorcycle trip in late August. I will be reaching out to Bonnie. Stan Sersen - [email protected]. My sympathies to the entire family.
