Roy Schnug Obituary

Roy William Schnug, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born on December 8, 1940, in Great Falls, Montana, Roy was the son of William and Laura (Crook) Schnug. He left an indelible mark on all who knew him, living a full and vibrant life.

Roy's journey began in Wellington, where he graduated from Wellington High School in 1959. His high school years were filled with camaraderie as he played football and basketball. Following graduation, Roy found happiness marrying his high school sweetheart, Shirley Blehm, in May of 1961. Together, they cultivated a life filled with love and commitment.

In the early years of their marriage, Roy farmed alongside his father, nurturing the land and working diligently to provide for his family. In 1964, he took a bold step by starting a Texaco gas station in Fort Collins, which brought them a sense of community and connection with customers. After years of hard work at the gas station, Roy transitioned into a fulfilling 34-year career with Allen Plumbing and Heating, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.

In 2003, Roy and Shirley made their home on Happy Jack Road in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Their dedication to their faith was evident as they became active members of the Happy Jack Country Church, where they found fellowship and support in their community.

Roy was known for his warm personality, never meeting a stranger. His willingness to lend a hand to his children and family in times of need spoke volumes about his character. Whether it was fixing things around the house or building something from scratch, he was always present to offer his expertise and love.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Roy cherished moments spent on horseback, embarking on many pack trips into the majestic Rocky Mountains. The fall was particularly special to him as he reveled in the beauty of nature that surrounded him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Shirley (Blehm) Schnug. Together, they raised a family that exemplified love and unity. Roy is also survived by their children, Stanley Schnug (Judy) of Cheyenne and Diane Morgan (Bob) of Sterling, Colorado. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Kevin Schnug (Taida Baldwin), Kyle (Jessica) Schnug, Nick (Amanda) Morgan, Tanya (David) Woodard, and Samantha (Jordan) Troester. He was especially proud of his great-grandchildren, Lena Schnug & Roman Day, Wesley Schnug, Paisley & Baelor Morgan, Raphael, Madeline, & Naomi Woodard, with two more great-grandchildren on the way. A beloved brother, Hersel Schnug (Barb) and several nieces and nephews, a testament to the thriving family he nurtured.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura Schnug, as well as his sisters, Leona Schnug and Helen Brown. While they are no longer with us, Roy’s spirit and love for his family and friends will continue to shine brightly.

A Celebration of Life honoring Roy will be held on November 15, 2025, at 1 PM at the Laramie County Community College 1400 E College Drive Cheyenne, Wyoming.  In the Union Pacific Centennial Room located in the Center of Conferences & Institute Building on campus.  Preferred Parking Lot L.
