Richard Keith Schnug, of Wellington, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the age of 62.

Richard was born the son of James and Shirley (Weakly) Schnug on June 6, 1963 in Wichita, Kansas.

Richard spent his life in Wellington, Kansas, where he was not just a resident, but a cherished member of the community. His life was an embodiment of hard work, love for nature, and unwavering dedication to his family and his ranch. Richard was a man of the land; he was a cattle rancher who found purpose and passion in his work. He poured his heart and soul into his vocation and his commitment to his cattle was beyond compare.

Richard was an outdoorsman who loved the simplicity and beauty of nature. He enjoyed fishing in his free time, finding peace and tranquility in the stillness of the water and the quiet rustle of the leaves. He was a huge fan of the Kansas State Wildcats and the Kansas City Chiefs, and his enthusiasm for the teams was infectious. His love for learning was insatiable, always eager to know more, do more, and be more. His nephews looked up to him as a role model, and he cherished every moment he spent with his family, always eager to share his knowledge and his love with them.

Richard is survived by his sisters: Pat Schnug; Beverly Schulte; Linda Schnug; sisters in law, Jan Schnug; and Kendria Schnug along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Schnug; sister, Alice Schnug; brothers, David Schnug and Gary Schnug.

A viewing for Richard will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 1:00pm to 3:00 pm at the Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1030 Mission Rd., Wellington, Kansas 67152.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plaine, Kansas.
