Pete, age 89, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023. She was a resident of
Hammond, LA. Pete retired after 30 years of service as a telephone operator for Bellsouth and AT&T. Pete had many different titles: Mama, Maw Maw Pete, Petie, and Aunt Pete. This goes to show you that she not only loved so many people, but they all held a special place in their heart for her. Pete loved going on trips with her family. From cruises, work trips with her late husband, Oscar, to traveling abroad, she was so happy as long as she could go. Pete was always up for an adventure and was sure to have the time of her life every chance she got. She was easy going, but always made sure she spoke her mind. Pete adored all of her family deeply and never missed an opportunity to spend time with her family. She left her family with countless wonderful memories and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Tara Tate Morgan (James), Linda Tate Scharwath (Keith Sr.), Cindy Tate Crayton (Luke); special niece, Stacie Miranda (Mike); special daughter, Viviana "Shell" Sanchez; sister, Shelby Bland; grandchildren, Brett Morgan, Kaci Morgan Puglia (Anthony), Denise LaBorde (Rick), Kevin Scharwath Sr. (Macy), Keith Scharwath Jr. (Ashley), Tisha Crayton White; special great-nieces, Katie and Emma Miranda; special grandsons, Roberto and Pilo Garcia; great-grandchildren, Seth Banks (Gabrielle), Hunter and Haleigh Puglia, Kevin Jr. and Kooper Scharwath, Leia and Grant Scharwath, Olivia and Abby White; stepdaughters, Stacie Crain, Tracie Schillace (Shawn); stepsons, Osman Crain (Shae), Dennis Crain (Katie); step grandchildren, Mindi Crain, Chloe Crain Sheridan (Kyle), Jordan Schillace (Kirsten), Trey Schillace (Macie), Magan Hamby, Catherine Mason (Gary), Randy Miller (Shannon), Eric Miller (Melissa); and step great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Schillace, Vera Jo Sheridan, Alex, Baylor, Seth, Ali, Ryleigh, Isabella, and Julianna.
Pete is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruby Bridges; 1st husband, Emmett Tate; 2nd husband, Oscar Crain; sisters, Evelyn McCoy (G.K.), Floal Simmons (Julian); brothers, Harry "Man" Bridges Jr., Gerald "Sugarman" Bridges; and brother-in-law, Kenny Bland.
Pallbearers will be Brett Morgan, Anthony Puglia Jr., Kevin Scharwath Sr., Keith Scharwath Jr., Rick LaBorde, and Hunter Puglia. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Morgan, Keith Scharwath Sr., Luke Crayton, Mike Miranda, Kevin Scharwath Jr., Roberto Garcia and Pilo Garcia.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 W.
Hammond, LA 70401, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Roy Bankston will officiate with interment to follow in Tangipahoa Cemetery at 12135 Hwy 440 West
