Jerry Nell Wainwright

Jerry Wainwright, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a proud member of Eagle Heights Church. Jerry was a woman who found joy in life's blessings and shared that joy generously with everyone around her. Her pantry shelves gleamed with rows of preserves of vegetables, jellies, and jams, each jar a reflection of her care and patience. Jerry's garden was her sanctuary and such a colorful mix of vibrant flowers and thriving vegetables that she nurtured with a gentle touch and a green thumb. She was an excellent baker and proudly served her famous Pumpkin Logs. Jerry will be forever loved and missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorinda Wainwright; sons, Terry Wainwright (Tina), Jeff Wainwright (Latitia), Danny Wainwright (Lucy), Scott Wainwright (Sissy); 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild on the way; and her life-long friend, Jeanette Forbes.
Jerry is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Thorton; mother, Amy Purvis Thorton; sisters, Susie Thorton and Mavis Stafford; son, James Wyatt Wainwright; and great-grandchild, Riley Wainwright.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her dear friend, Jeannie White who has been there to serve and take care of Jerry in her time of need.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home 12012 Hwy. 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Bankston Cemetery.
