Ruby Lamb Hembree, 82, of 8331 Cross Anchor Road, widow of the late James Brock Hembree passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at her home.
Born December 23, 1940, in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late John Cecil Lamb and Azilee Lanford Lamb. She was retired from Spartanburg District 4 Schools where she worked as a cafeteria worker, a former School Bus Driver for over 30 years and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Melanie Samol (Mark) of Cross Anchor; son, James Hembree Jr. of Simpsonville; sisters, Gail Meeks of Clinton, Becky Arrowood of York; brothers, Carol "Buddy" Lamb (Carlene) of Conway, Arkansas, John Joseph Lamb of Cross Anchor; grandchildren, Russ Samol, Gracie Samol; great-niece and her sons, Elizabeth Parham (Clay, Tanner and Colton) and special "Adopted" children, Brooks, Ashley and Jaxson Hughes who were her next door neighbors.
The family will receive friends 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Danny Monroe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crescent Hospice, 839 Main Street, Suite D. Buffalo, SC 29321.
