Russell Vivan Broadbent, 70, of El Reno, Oklahoma was born on December 20, 1951 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He is the son of Howard and Christine (Graybill) Broadbent. He went to walk the golden streets of heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his home in El Reno, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Russell grew up in Leedey, Oklahoma where he attended school and graduated in 1970. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1970, and served only for a short time. On December 19, 1975, he married the love of his life Karen Ann (Drinnon) and they made their home in Hammon, Oklahoma.
Russell worked in the oilfield, then in 1979, a daughter, Kandra Michele was born and in February 1983, a son Russell Shane was born. Russell was a dedicated husband and a loving father. He loved his wife and children like no other. Through the years Russell worked in the oilfield and he also drove a truck. He was employed by Farmers Supply for many years and then later he and Karen drove a truck cross country. In 2006, he retired due to health conditions but that didn't keep him confined. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren was a special time. He also enjoyed farming and he spent many years taking care of his cattle and enjoyed spending time on the farm. Russell was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church of Elk City, Oklahoma.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m.,Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Martin-Dugger Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Bobby Stewart will officiate and Larry Parvin will assist. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing his memory is his loving wife, Karen Broadbent of the home, El Reno, Oklahoma; one daughter, Kandra Little and her husband, Doug of Calumet, Oklahoma; one son, Shane Broadbent and his wife, Kylie of Foss Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jacob and Jared Little of Calumet, Oklahoma, Mckena and Brayson Broadbent of Foss, Oklahoma, Nicki McRee and her husband, Dustin of Canute, Oklahoma, and Jay Little and his wife, Morgan of Canute, Oklahoma; one sister, Sue Broadbent of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one brother, Richard Broadbent and his wife, Vicki of Leedey, Oklahoma; and his very special friends, Mike and Kim Swisher.
Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Christine Broadbent.
The family would like to thank Russell Murray Hospice and SSM Home Health for the wonderful and loving care to Russell during his time of need.
