S. Dale Orvin

Sherell Dale Orvin, 83, of St. Stephen, SC, retired owner and operator of Orvin's Insurance Agency, died Monday evening in a North Charleston hospital.
His funeral will be 1:00 PM Friday afternoon, December 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday. Flowers will be accepted or the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mr. Orvin was born September 3, 1940, in St. Stephen, SC, a son of Lem Calhoun Orvin and Fonza Baker Orvin. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Stephen High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Stephen, where he also served as a deacon. Mr. Orvin attended Heritage Holiness Church and was a lifetime member of Mt. Hope Lodge #128 A.F.M. He served as a former St. Stephen Town Councilman; helped organize the St. Stephen Youth League; and was a former member of the St. Stephen Jaycees. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking, and decorating for the holidays. Mr. Orvin was preceded in death by his brother, L.C. Orvin, Jr.
Surviving are his wife Betty Richardson Orvin; a son, Sherrill D. Orvin, Jr., and his wife, Taffy, of Pinopolis; a daughter, Cathy O. Ollic and her husband, Rick, of Moncks Corner; a nephew, Tim Orvin and his wife, Denise, of Hanahan; three grandchildren, Christopher (Anne) Ollic, Benjamin Ollic, and Tanner Orvin; two great grandchildren, Henry Ollic and Jack Ollic; and a great niece, Kelsey Orvin.
