Sandra was born October 14, 1933, in Hastings, Nebraska, the daughter of Sanford and Vera Vaughn Tunison. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1951. Sandra married Leo Yarber on November 24, 1956. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986, after 25 years of service. Sandra was a telephone pioneer. She loved to play golf.
Sandra was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She was also well loved by the staff that cared for her at The Healthcare Resort.
Sandra is survived by her daughters, Shelley Martinez (Barney) and Sharon Shaffer; grandsons, Jordon and Jason Gaston; three great-grandchildren; and twin sister, Sue Breeding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and sister, Nancy Pittenger.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, and sent in care of the funeral home.
