Simone Ann (Laudumiey, Donahue) Brown , age 85, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and close friends on July 7, 2023. She was born on July 25, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Yvonne (Messonnier) Laudumiey and Fernand Laudumiey, Junior.
Simone was preceded in death by her parents; first husband ,John Donahue and her second husband,Joseph Brown. She is survived by her two loving and adoring children: her son Edward Gerard Donahue (Cristi Jackson) and their daughters, Evelyn Simone and Eleanor Yvonne; her daughter, Bernadette Thérèse Donahue (Cory Waters).
She is also survived by her sister Suzanne Linden (Dan), brother Fernand Laudimiey III (Sandra), cousin Janice Topino; many nieces and nephews and two step children, Anne Marie Munson (Jeremiah) their three sons, and Joseph Brown II (Dawn). In addition to family, Simone leaves a widely diverse, chosen "family" of friends who cherished her. Simone was an exceptional educator and taught for many years in the Northeast Independent School District and Incarnate Word College.
She was a loyal friend, compassionate and knew no stranger. She will be deeply missed by her children, siblings and friends. Graveside services will be held Friday July 14 11am at Holy Cross Cemetery.

I love and miss Simone so so much. She was my friend and my mentor. We were friends for 63 years and never ever will I forget her. I know she is out of pain and enjoying her heavenly home but sometimes I get selfish and wish she was still here. Looking forward to seeing her again one day

Simone was my World Religions professor at UIW in the early 2000's and later I had the opportunity to work with her husband, Joseph. Simone had a way of inspiring her students to learn more and embrace new perspectives in life. She is part of a list of faculty members who inspired me to earn a doctorate and pursue a career in higher education. May Simone rest in peace and may her legacy live on with her family, colleagues, and students.

Simone was my teacher at Incarnate Word College in the late 90's. I truly enjoyed her class (Western Civilization) and the personal stories she shared so that we would have a better understanding of the "real world". Simone would cross my mind throughout the years and I wished I had an opportunity to tell her, I've been teaching for 32 years and she was an inspiration that kept me going. May she rest in peace and be united with family and friends.

My daughters, Mari and Teresita Hinojosa, had Mrs. Donahue as their History teacher at Jackson Middle School, thought she was great, and to this day fondly remember her one-liners that called the class to order. We met again much later, when she was teaching at UIW, and she passed on to me curriculum she had developed on Native Americans. She was a valued Adjunct Professor.
