Summer Dawn Hill, 35, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Summer was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 11, 1989, the daughter of Michael VanDeventer and Dawn Brissey. Summer grew up participating in competitive cheerleading for the Broken Arrow Tigers and regularly participated in kids and student activities at the church she attended, Broken Arrow Assembly of God. Summer later graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 2007. Summer was very involved in her church, consistently attending services, retreats, camps, and mission trips where she created memories and made life-long friends. Her church is where she met her future husband, Chris. Summer married Chris Hill on November 12, 2011, in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Pastor Joseph Kellogg officiating. Chris and Summer were married twelve years until her passing. During their marriage they had two beautiful girls together: Mila Dawn Hill born in March of 2018, and Demi Denise Hill born in March of 2021. Her girls were her whole world. Chris and Summer moved to Toccoa, Georgia shortly after they married to be the Family Ministries Pastors for Glad Tidings Church. After two and a half years, they returned to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to join the staff at Life.Church South Tulsa. Summer worked for multiple organizations including Small World Learning Center, The Assembly at Broken Arrow, Northeastern State University, and Avis. Her most favorite role was working at Life.Church where she was a valuable team member and employee for over seven years. She built the greatest friendships while using her gifts to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Summer enjoyed reading, crocheting, her daily Wordle game, and spending time with those closest to her. Her smile lit up a room and a laughter filled it with joy. Summer wasn't afraid to be silly or have a good time and always had a listening ear that was eager to care for others. Preceding Summer in death are her father, Michael VanDeventer, grandparents Alfred and Geraldine Pirtle, grandparents Max and Vera Brissey, and cousin Amber Gaither. Summer is survived by her husband, Chris Hill, daughters Mila and Demi Hill, mother and step-father Philip and Dawn Brissey, grandparents Charles and Reva Lois Nixon, siblings Breia Brissey and Michael VanDeventer, and many dearly loved family members.
