Katheryn Sue (Palmer) Winningham, age 76, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, in McAlester.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Mr. Jeremy Pullum officiating. Her final resting place will be next to her husband Ronald at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garrette Wilson, Ben Calvert, David Pullum, John Long, and Cory Long.
Katheryn was born on May 2, 1949, in McAlester to John Cecil and Clara Francis (Leslie) Palmer. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1967 and continued her education at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah.
On April 23, 1977, Katheryn was united in marriage to Ronald D. Winningham in McAlester. She devoted many years of service to the State of Oklahoma, working in several capacities including probation officer, secretary at the State Capitol, and later retiring as a secretarial supervisor.
Katheryn had a lifelong love of reading, especially mystery novels. She cherished time spent with her family and took great joy in cooking for family gatherings. A devoted caregiver, she lovingly cared for her mother-in-law, Millie Nichols, for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Cecil and Clara Palmer; her husband, Ronald D. Winningham, in 2017; her son, Ronald Clinton "Clint" Winningham; her brother, Jack R. Palmer; and her mother-in-law, Millie Nichols.
Katheryn is survived by her sons, Brian David Pullum and his husband, Ben Calvert, of McAlester, and Charles Brett Winningham and his wife, Leona, of Krebs; her grandchildren, Edyta Thomason, Jasmine Thomason, and K.K. Thomason; her brother, Richard Palmer and his wife, Diana; her sister-in-law, Wendy Palmer; her niece, Rebecca Nichols; along with other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
