Joshua Crabtree Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory - McAlester on Mar. 18, 2026.
Joshua Lee Crabtree, 39, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A celebration of Joshua's life will be held at a later date to honor his memory.

Joshua was born on August 14, 1986, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He spent his early years in Arkansas before his family moved to Canadian, Oklahoma, where he made his lifelong home in Pittsburg County. A proud graduate of Canadian High School, Class of 2004, Joshua went on to serve his country with dedication and pride in the United States Army. As a Military Police Officer, he completed a deployment to Iraq and faithfully served for eight years.

Following his military service, Joshua continued his commitment to public service by working at Oklahoma State Penitentiary (OSP) and later with the Mack Alford Correctional Center (MACC), where he served as a Unit Manager for 18 years. He was well respected by his colleagues and known for his leadership, integrity, and steady presence.

On August 22, 2012, Joshua married the love of his life, Julie Henry, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with one daughter, Elizabeth, and Julie was a loving stepmother to his two daughters, Ashlyn and Blaire, who were his greatest joy. Joshua was a devoted husband and father whose love for his family guided every part of his life.

Outside of work, Joshua enjoyed gaming, fishing, and golfing, and could often be found spending quality time with his children. Family and friends will always remember his incredible barbecue skills and the way he brought people together through good food, laughter, and love.

Joshua is survived by his parents, Junior and Dana Crabtree of Canadian; grandfather, Charlie Dean of Fort Smith, Arkansas; wife, Julie Crabtree and daughter, Elizabeth Crabtree of the home; daughters, Ashlyn Crabtree, and Blaire Crabtree both of McAlester; sisters, Ashley Jenkins of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and Alicia Jenkins of Fort Smith, Arkansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Dean; his beloved Meme, Betty Kincannon; and his brother, Joey McAuley.

Joshua's life was one of service, laughter, and love. His kindness, strength, and devotion to his family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
