Susan Johannessen Fauth, 82, of Oswego, IL, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024. Her family and friends are comforted knowing she is now with her beloved husband Dave, who died in 2007, and her loving parents, Olga (Daleiden) Johannessen and Michael J. Johannessen.
Born on May 20, 1942, Susan graduated from St. Joseph Grade School; Madonna High School, Aurora, IL; and studied at Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, Iowa. She married David L. Fauth on May 15, 1965. In 1972, Sue and Dave moved to Oswego, IL, where they raised five children: Amy (David) Moon, Longwood, FL; Michael (Cynthia) Fauth, Plainfield, IL; Andrew (Paula) Fauth, Geneva, IL; David (Stacey) Fauth, Oswego, IL; and Cynthia Fauth, Chicago, IL.
Sue poured her heart into her role as a mom and homemaker for many years, only going to work once her youngest child was in school full-time. She became a Teacher Assistant in Oswego in 1985 and spent her days connecting with elementary school children, helping them to improve their reading skills. She retired in 2013 after 27 years. In 2007 Sue was recognized with an Award of Recognition in the 2007 Illinois State Board of Education those Who Excel Awards.
A life filled with family and friends is how Sue lived. Her five children and their spouses were completely and perfectly devoted to her, and she to them. She created a wonderful, pleasant home environment for her kids and their friends where everyone was welcomed and felt at home as soon as they walked in the door. She spent countless hours supporting her kids in every sport and activity, no matter the distance or weather. Her greatest pleasure, though, was spending time with her precious nine grandchildren, Alexandra Fauth, Madison Fauth, David (Teddy) Moon, Katherine Moon, Abigail Fauth, Jacob Fauth, Christopher Fauth, Morgan Fauth and David Fauth. She babysat; dog sat, and attended (more!) sporting events, dance recitals and school functions with pure joy.
Sue Fauth lived a life of contentment and gratitude, surrounding herself with her family and her dear, cherished friends. She enjoyed attending Bible Study through St. Anne's Parish in Oswego, where she was a faithful member for over 50 years. She and her husband Dave were active in starting and supporting the Oswego High School Sports Booster Club, going back to 1980. She volunteered during her children's school days, and carpooled them around to swim lessons, athletic events, band rehearsals, sleepovers, and so much more.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue is preceded in death by her mother in-law Naomi Hamilton Fauth, her father in-law, Robert J. Fauth, and her brother-in-law James Fauth.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her brother in-law Robert J. Fauth II, and her sister in-law, Charlotte Fauth, both of Indian Wells, CA.

Sue and I were first cousins. Her dad and my mom Florence were brother and sister! Our father died when I was 7 and my brother Jim was 5. Since our mom ran the Dairy Queen we spent a lot of time in the care of our Aunt Olga and Uncle Mike Johannessen. Susan was part of the care- giving team!!! She was always so good to us. It was especially fun when we stayed overnight and got to sleep in her room. She made that time in my life easier. She was like an older sister.
Always steady - always nice - always comfortable to be with! That is how I remember her and that is why she will be missed. Linda Lannen Schiltz
