Theresa "Terry" Herrick, 74, of Peculiar, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, MO. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 10:30 am at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 am. Inurnment in MO Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
Terry was born on January 9, 1950, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Leroy Edward and Theresa Mary (Sutcliffe) Collins. Terry was a vibrant and caring woman who left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Her warm smile and kind heart will forever be remembered by all who knew her. She married the love of her life, Max B. Herrick, Jr., on April 18, 1970. They lived in Sugar Creek before moving to Peculiar in 1979.
Terry dedicated her life to caring for children as a compassionate childcare provider. She operated Terry's Day Care in Peculiar for a number of years and served as a bus monitor for the Raymore-Peculiar School District before her retirement. Her nurturing nature and ability to create a safe and loving environment helped shape the lives of countless youngsters throughout her career. Her passion for helping others was truly undeniable, and she will be deeply missed by both the families she assisted and the children she raised over the years.
Terry is preceded in death by her husband, Max B. Herrick Jr.; her parents; her sister, Sandy Bates; and her grandson, Adam Herrick. She leaves behind her sons: Robert "Bobby" (Debra) Herrick, Harrisonville, MO, and Dennis Herrick, Garden City, MO; her daughter, Robbin (Mike) Abbott, Kingsville, MO; two brothers, Larry (Judy) Collins, Blue Springs, MO, Jim (Linda) Collins, Kansas City, MO; two sisters, her twin sister, Mary Andrade, Independence, MO, and Patty (Bob) Lantz, Lee's Summit, MO; her 5 grandchildren: Lori Peterson, Cody Lenhart-Abbott, Clint Herrick, Emma Herrick, and Chloe Herrick; and her great-grandchild, Benjamin Abbott.
