With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wanda Louise Herrick, who departed this life on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the age of 77. Wanda was a resident of Oswego, NY, but her journey began in Roanoke, Virginia, where she was born on Saturday, March 13, 1948, to the late Jack Scaggs and Lula Morrison.
Wanda is lovingly remembered by her children: Lawrence (Traci) Richard Gates Jr. of Fulton, NY, Rachael (Jenifer) Herrick of Flagstaff, AZ, and Rebecca (Mike) Watts of Florida; and three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She cherished her family deeply and took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother. Wanda is predeceased by her father, Jack Scaggs, her mother, Lula Morrison, and her brothers, Danny and Jerry Scaggs.
A dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant, Wanda devoted 30 years of her life serving the community at St. Camillus Nursing and Rehabilitation in Camillus, NY. Her gentle care and dedication touched the lives of many, both colleagues and residents alike.
Wanda's educational journey led her to Mexico High School in Mexico, NY, where she graduated and laid the groundwork for her lifelong commitment to helping others through her profession.
As we prepare to say goodbye, we remember Wanda's kindness, her unwavering strength, and her unwavering love for her family and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honoring Wanda's memory, her family asks that you cherish the moments you share with your loved ones, just as she did throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
