Gordon F. Ruckdeschel, Jr., 76, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Upstate Medical Center after a long illness. Gordon was born in Syracuse and raised in Mexico, NY, graduating from Mexico High School in 1967. After high school he met his best friend Bob Sprague and became lifelong friends with the entire Sprague family of Liverpool. He retired in 2017 after 37 years with the Engineering Department of the City of Syracuse. Gordon was a strong believer in the power of unions, and served terms as both Vice-President and President of his local CSEA Unit 7801. A lifetime sports fan, Gordon brought that love to the community as a long-time Eastwood Little League coach and referee for local youth basketball. Gordon was also a foster parent through the Salvation Army for several years. He is predeceased by his parents Gordon Ruckdeschel and Theodora Yager Ruckdeschel.

Gordon is survived by his wife, "KT" Karen Mack, his children, Gordon Ruckdeschel III of New York City, Karen Castro of Rochester, and Max (Elizabeth) Ruckdeschel of DeWitt, grandchildren, Lauren, Dylan, Benjamin and Susanna, step-children, Heather DeLand (Matthew) of London, England, Joel DeLand (Dana) of Leavenworth, KS and Cody DeLand of Harpursville, and step-grandchildren, Kade, Finch, Carter and Ava. He is also survived by two brothers, John (Elaine) Ruckdeschel of Cicero, David (Kathy) Ruckdeschel of Elbridge, his sister, Brenda (Fred) Brunhouse of Fair Play, SC and favorite cousin, Marsha (Armando) Ramirez of Liverpool, along with several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rte. 31, Baldwinsville, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private. A celebration of life will be planned in the new year.

In lieu of flowers, Gordon requested donations be made to your local food bank during this time of need.
