Mr. William F. (Bill) Bonner III, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at home after a hard bravely fought 10 year battle with the after effects of cancer. Surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 2, 1948 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of William F. and Salome (Tome) Bonner Jr.. He married Diane Reem on December 18, 1970 in North Henderson, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Diane; two sons, Sean (and Lea) Bonner of Abingdon, Illinois and Thadd Bonner of Alexis, Illinois; a sister, Bonnie (and Ron) Hayeslette of Huntington Beach, California; seven grandchildren, Sean Austin Bonner, Matthew Bonner, Trevor Bonner, Tommas Bonner, Samantha Bonner, Sierra Bonner and Dalton Bonner. One great- granddaughter, Jackie Kovarik and his beloved little dog, Bucket. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lisa Joslin.
William graduated from Alexis I Dupont High School in Greenville, Delaware in 1966. He graduated in 1970 from McMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois; later, he earned an associate degree from Carl Sandburg College in computer science. He worked for 25 years at Econo Foods in Galesburg. He then was an IT manager for Computer Information System for 10 years at the Galesburg Clinic. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler. He also was a DX-ER, a hobby he shared with his sons when they were young. He was a ham radio operator, a hobby he shared with his grandson, Austin. Computers were not only his job but his passion up until the end of his life. He was a die-hard Bears fan. He loved spending time with his family at backyard BBQ'S and having his favorite steak.
Cremation will be accorded. A scattering of the cremains will take place at a later date. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission or Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center, Galesburg. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
