Bill Bolden age 99 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 28th 2023, into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, at Ohio State University East Hospital. Born September 24th, 1923 in Columbus to Espanola and Ralph Bolden. Bill is preceded in death by his loving Wife Pearl of 48 years, and his loving Step Father Mr. Harry Armstrong.
Attended Columbus East High School, Bill served proudly in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Sergeant and served dutifully in World War II. Bill was a retired worker from Clark Grave Vault Company, Gulf Oil Corporation and Quest Diagnostics. Bill is also preceded in death by his sister, Ann (Floyd) Johnson of California, and brother Walter S. (Beatrice) Bolden, of Columbus, Ohio. Daughter Renee Y. Bolden, of Columbus, Ohio nephew David L. McGill of California.
Survived by loving daughter and caregiver Adrienne D. Hughes, and Grandson Earl W. (Debrah) Hughes, Anthony L. Bolden of Columbus, Ohio, Betty (Kevan) Days of Memphis Tennessee and Great-Granddaughter, Latrice Hughes of Columbus, Ohio; Great-Grandsons, Devvon, Darrion, Donnovin Hughes all of Columbus, Ohio; Great-Great Granddaughters, MeMe and Sky, Great-Nephews, Rick and Shawn McGill of California and their Sister Arianna; Great-Nephew Michael S. Dowdy, of Lancaster Ohio; special daughter Ginny; special friends and racing buddies, Frank and Judy Drake.
Bill was an avid fisherman, who loved to fish with his Clark Grave Vault buddies, cooking a grand breakfast feast before hitting the road. Oftentimes fishing from his boat on Lake Erie, Buckeye Lake and Hoover Dam that he and Samuel Jackson purchased together. Sometime in 1987 Bill and his special friends Frank and Judy Drake purchased a horse, "Phoenician Millie", entering her in many races including Lebanon Raceway in Lebanon, Ohio when she had a lifetime record.
Bill purchased the car of his dreams, a 1959 Cadillac Seville, the color was Johnson Gold! He tore down the entire engine and rebuilt it himself from scratch! He and mom then took off into the sunset to Las Vegas and Disneyland leaving us children behind.
Bill helped out many people during his lifetime, purchasing groceries, paying rent, buying clothes, and making car repairs in secret without expecting anything in return. THIS is why The Good Lord Blessed him with Longevity and a Good Life. He will be sorely missed.
