Robert Ice Akins Jr., beloved son, father, brother, and friend, departed this life unexpectedly on October 24, 2025, at the age of 46. Born on September 5, 1979, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a cherished member of the Akins family and a vibrant spirit whose warmth and laughter brightened the lives of many.
Robert was the pride and joy of his mother, Annette Akins, and a loving older sibling to his brothers, Carlos Akins, Marta Edwards, and Tabyus Chappell, as well as his sister, Shemeika Nelson. He held a deep bond with his grandmothers, Gertrude Akins and Sophromia Braswell, who nurtured his spirit and imparted wisdom that would carry him through life.
A dedicated father, Robert cherished his five (5) children – Robert Ice Akins, Icyses Akins, Brielle Young, Auldin, and Kehlia – embracing the joys and challenges of fatherhood with unwavering love. He valued his relationships with their mothers —Teshayla Daise, Crystal Bruce, Taura Young, Candy Berger, and Keisha Kirk —and recognized the importance of family unity.
Robert was known for his vibrant personality and infectious laughter, embodying the essence of celebration in every gathering. He was the life of the party. He loved his Westside GGI Family, which he represented every chance he got (westside). His love for life and those around him will forever be cherished by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who experienced his kindness and uplifting spirit.
As we celebrate Robert’s life, let us remember his cherished words: “I love you now and even after death.” May his memory inspire all who knew him to express love and kindness freely, as he did throughout his life. Robert Ice Akins Jr. will forever remain in our hearts.
