Willie Frank Jr. passed away peaceably in his sleep at the age of 90, Friday, August 23, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1934, to Willie Wesley Frank Sr. and Essie Mae Glenn of Aliquippa, PA. where he grew up and excelled in sports throughout his early years. After graduating from Aliquippa High school, Willie studied physical education at Denver University (DU) and played football on an athletic scholarship. Post his experience at Denver University, he entered active-duty US Air Force military specializing in; Moral, Welfare and Recreation as a Physical Instructor. Upon Willie’s military retirement, he worked for Washington DC Jellef Boys and Girls Club and Potomac Job Corps, serving as a Recreation Director. After his 2nd Retirement, he opened Speed Clean, a janitorial cleaning company servicing government and commercial office buildings in the DMV. Willie was an advocate for change as he worked with many facets of the community; President, Woods Civic Association, Andrews Airforce Base’s Tatum Non-Commissioned Officers Organization (Round Table), Big Shooters Golf Club, Cambpell AME Usher and Trustee Board. Willie robustly enjoyed golf and spending time with his family. He was the devoted and greatly loved husband of his beloved Thelma Lee Bowens-Frank who preceded him in death December 2021.
Willie Frank is survived by his brother Albert and Sister Rosetta, daughters; Greta, Daphney, Michelle and Robin, Grandchildren; Willie (Wes), Shavonne, Jayson, Jasmin, Keith, Jade, Zurie and a host of great grandchildren.
Services: 9/10/2024; 4-7 Lee Funeral Home, Clinton Md. The Celebration of Service will take place on 9/ 11/2024; 9-10 (viewing) and 10:00 (Service) at Campbell AME church, Martin Luther King Ave. S.E. Washington, DC. Repast following service
Interment with honors TBD at the Arlington National Cemetery.
