"A LIMB HAS FALLEN FROM THE FAMILY TREE THAT SAYS: "Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs, and the good life I lived while I was strong." Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."
DEACON WILLIE FRED HOWELL was born to the late Roy C. and Jessie Mae (nee Chambers) on June 21, 1963. He joined Sunlight Baptist Church at an early age. He was ordained as a deacon, a position in which he served until his death. He was employed at Scotch Plywood and worked there until his health failed.
Mr. Howell made his transition from life on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Mobile Infirmary, Mobile AL.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Manaletta Ann "Jimmie" Howell; two sons: Jarmaine and Willie Latrell Howell; eight sisters: Rosetta (Louis) Smith of North Carolin, Ellar (Eddie) Hodge, Beatrice Dozier, Laverne (Staheli) Everett, Sharon Howell and Elizabeth J. Howell, all of Waynesboro, MS, Letha (Mario) Williams and Leatha Marie (Mitchell) Watson, of Mobile, AL; five brothers: John Bobby West and Freddie Roy Howell of Miami, FL, Tony (Patricia) West of Mobile, AL, Alfred (Temecia) West and Joe Lee (Katina) Howell of Waynesboro, MS, and one granddaughter: Loyalty Jershell Howell.
He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends who will miss him dearly.
Mr. Howell was preceded in death, in addition to both parents, by two brothers: Curtis Lee Howell and Shelton Howell, and three sisters: Reatha Mae Howell, Mary L. Dozier, and Yanetta Whipple.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sunlight Baptist Church, with Rev. Cecil Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
There will be a viewing period for Mr. Howell Friday, January 27, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home, and Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Sunlight Baptist Church.
