Walter Kotchin Obituary

Walter L. "Buzz" Kotchin Jr., 66, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010.
He was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Washington, D.C. to the late Walter and Anne Butts Kotchin.
Buzz was Catholic by faith and a member of the Boat Owners Association of the United States. He loved boating, coaching soccer, NY pizza, and his dogs, Kirby and Kasey (Four the Boyz was the name of his boat).
He was known as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gail (Matalonis); sons, Walter "Boomer" Kotchin III, of New York, N.Y., and Adam J. Kotchin of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Kelly Gitt (Michael); grandchildren, Gina, Brendan, Aiden, Emerson, and baby girl Gitt of Omaha, Neb.; aunt, Florence Kotchin; uncle, Al Kotchin, both of Johnstown, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family members express their thanks to the staff of Baptist Medical Center-Nassau, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sefack, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Birkholz, Mr. and Mrs. Israel Kight, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gustin for their loving support and care of Buzz during his illness.
Funeral Mass was held on Monday, Dec. 13, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1429 Broward Road, Jacksonville, Fla., with Father Jose Kulathinal officiating.
Interment followed cremation.
The family received friends on Monday in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Fla.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Jacksonville Humane Society in memory of "Buzz
