Loren Sosamon Obituary

FARMER CITY – Loren H. Sosamon, 84, of Farmer City passed away at 8:35 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 N. Main St., Farmer City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Provena Hospice Program, Urbana.

Loren was born Feb. 9, 1924, at Mackinaw, a son of Harold C. and Letha E. Greathouse Sosamon. He married Marilyn Ashley on May 18, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. His former wife Marilyn of Monticello survives. He later married Alison J. Geiger on July 20, 1985, in rural Farmer City.

He is survived by his wife, Alison J. Sosamon of Farmer City;

son, Lynnie L. Sosamon of White Heath; stepson, Cameron W. Geiger of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Dianna (George) Dalton of Monticello and Marca (Al) Fleener of rural Farmer City; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Linda) Sosamon of Brighton, Colo.; sister, Irene Dawson of rural Farmer City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Loren was a retired farmer and livestock trader.

I remember driving by his farm and always looking at the long horn cattle that was there. The big fish in the pond that you could feed by hand. They came right up to Loren and his wife. I am sorry that Loren has departed but he was a great man, friend, husband and father. May God be with the famly.
