Richard Bergman Obituary

FISHER - Richard Lee Bergman, 77, of Fisher passed peacefully after a short illness on Monday (Oct. 30, 2023) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

He was born Nov. 25, 1945, in Champaign, a son of Henry and Helen (Freese) Bergman.  He married Diane Stroh on Nov. 25, 1972, in Anchor. She survives.

Also surviving are his son, Eric (Andrea) Bergman of Decatur, and daughter, Katrina Bergman of O'Fallon. He was a loving Opa to Alia Marie and Simon Henry Barcus of O'Fallon and to stepgrandson Joel King of Decatur; two brothers, Keith Bergman and David (Dee) Bergman; sister, Rhonda (Rick) Roesch; brother-in-law, Louis Stroh; and sister-in-law, Linda Bergman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Kevin; son-in-law, Adrian Barcus; nephew, Ben Bergman; and sisters-in-law, Lois Bergman and Edie Stroh.

Richard graduated from Fisher High School in 1963 then spent six years (1965-1971) in the U.S. Navy. He then began farming with his dad and brothers. He liked to meet up for coffee with his farming buddies in Fisher.

A gathering for friends and family will be on Friday evening from 4-6 p.m. at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. We would like to thank the Oncology Unit at Carle for their kindness and caring for Richard and our family.
