Emmie Teal Boone Obituary

Emmie Louise Teal Boone
April 3, 1937 - August 19, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Emmie Louise Teal Boone
1937-2021
" The first time her laughter unfurled it's wings in the wind
we knew the world would never be the same."
-Brian Andreas, poet and author
Emmie Louise Teal Boone grew up in Wadesboro, North Carolina; a gregarious redhead with a zest for life. Even as a child she could light up a room and make friends with ease. By high school she was voted most talkative, an award she seemed to honor her whole life. She called herself Emmie Lou, but to many friends she was simply Emmie. If you knew her, chances are good you shared more than one good, side-splitting laugh. Her laugh was contagious and memorable. On Thursday, August 19,2021, Emmie Boone passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, the people she loved most. She was 84 years old.
Emmie was the daughter of the late Jesse Wilson Teal and Odessa Harrington Teal. She was an opinionated, strong-willed person with confidence we all wish we had at times. These qualities provided her with a determination that carried her through life especially when she left Wadesboro as a young woman and went to school in Greensboro at the Women's College of University of North Carolina. (UNCG)
One of her happiest memories was taking off for Wrightsville Beach after college with just a few dollars in her pocket and only a snippet of information about a possible employment. Later she moved to Raleigh for a teaching job and there she met and married Carson Boone. Emmie recalled how much she loved the simple days as a young married couple living in Country Club Homes apartments, and then moving to Wilson Lane where she lived for 48 years, raised her two children, and made life-long friends. In the late 70's she began to work outside the home again, mostly in sales, which she was very good at. She then became a real estate agent with Simpson and Underwood Realtors, where she worked until retirement.
Emmie was a fun person to be around and welcomed the opportunity to cut up and be silly. She loved people and helping others. Her children remember her as a smart, hardworking, creative, and resourceful person; a mother who persevered and who taught them many valuable life skills. She was good at letting them know how much they were loved. The phrases 'I can't, and you can't do that" were not known to Emmie. These phrases only made her try harder.
Emmie was a wonderful dancer. Her favorite color was pink. She loved flowers, Christmas trees, and eating banana popsicles. She could be difficult at times; she did her things her way but had a sense of humor about it. This was who she was - along with being caring, appreciative and a good listener. All of which made her an excellent friend to have. People recall that she wrote the nicest handwritten notes. And she was loyal - willing to stay on the phone with you for hours, even if her ear turned red. However, she never followed the rule, "no advice will be given unless asked".
During the last few years of her life, she took great joy in getting to know her grandchildren, going to get ice-cream or just being driven around town pointing out homes she'd sold and remembering the wonderful people she'd met through her years in Raleigh.
May her everlasting strength be with each of you who were touched by her in life.
Emmie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Teal. Survived by her two children. Daughter, Paige B. Keravuori and her husband Chris, her son Carson H. Boone III, and his wife Hailey, and her three grandchildren, Hannah Carson Keravuori, Judson Walker Boone, and Kilby Fisher Boone.
In memory of Emmie's life, the family requests donations be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or online at www.transitionslifecare.org/donate

Emmie was like a second mother to me, she also had the best advice, only if asked, of course..she was one of my mom´s best friends as my brother and I were growing up.. My brother used to joke, that he could walk in after school, bleeding, missing a limb, or shot and mom would say Shhh I am on the phone with Emmie.. She was a strong and independent woman..Very Strong willed and and miss respected by all.. She will be greatly missed.. Now she and mom can have endless conversations in heaven..

Your Mother was a brilliant "Hoot!" I haven´t seen her in forty years but she made a mark on my life. I grew up in Wadesboro too and we got to know each other in the 80s when she was at Tyler House. NOBODY laughed with the delight and gusto that she did and I loved her so much. What a wonderful legacy she left her by the bright life she lived!

I´m sad to see the news of Emmie´s passing. I knew her during those simpler times at CCH apartments when I babysat Paige (before Baby Carson joined the family) and afterward when the Boones were transitioning to Wilson Lane. Over the years I enjoyed seeing Emmie from time to time (seems like these encounters were always at the CV Fresh Market); it was good to catch up and reminisce. I offer my sympathy and condolences especially to Paige and Carson and hope good memories will be a comfort to you.

We loved being just across the street from Emmie on Wilson Lane. She was a fun neighbor and Reid loved her little dog, "Bandit" who would come over to our yard often. I know Heaven gained a sweet girl!
