LaRue Pollard Obituary

LaRue Taylor Pollard, a resident of Windsor Point Retirement Community, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 4, 2010 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born in Green Co., NC in 1934 to the late Gerhard and Ruby Neal Taylor. She was a member of Garner First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert “Bobby” B. Pollard of Garner, now of Windsor Point Retirement Community in Fuquay-Varina, her son Edward N. Pollard and wife Mary of Raleigh, and her daughter Lynnette P. Turns of Savannah, GA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Daniel and Maggie Pollard of Raleigh and Amy and Bobby Turns of GA & FL.
La Rue graduated from Snow Hill High School and received her BS degree from Meredith College in 1955. She married Bobby in 1956 and retired with 30 years of dedicated service from Rollins Diagnostic Laboratory (NCDA) in 1992. La Rue and Bobby enjoyed traveling the country and volunteering together until 2005. Her volunteer services included: being a member of Wake County Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee, Garner Area Ministers, delivering Meals on Wheels, and working in the Pediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care nursery at Wake Med.
The family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to Hospice of Wake County, especially Gloria, Donna, Rosalyn and La Rue's other team members.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Garner First Baptist Church, 601 St. Mary's Street, Garner, NC 27529.
The family will be receiving family and friends from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner on Sunday and a graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Montlawn Memorial Park.
