Mary Allen Obituary

Mary Frances Southall Allen, 88, of 2025 Trawick Road, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her home with her family at her bedside. Mary Frances was born November 18, 1920 in Wake County to the late James Holman Southall and Mattie Poythress Southall. She married Carlyle Ernest Allen and shared their life together until his death in 1995. She retired in 1978 with 30 years of service with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. Graveside service 11:00 a.m.,Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603 with Reverend Rob Morris officiating. Surviving are daughter, Mary Carlyle A. Brown and her husband, Steve of Pine Knoll Shores; granddaughters, Meredith Allen Brown, Stephanie Allen Brown and her fiancé, Christopher Perri. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Southall, Margaret Wilder and Martha Wilder; brothers, Edward, James, Kemp and John Southall. The family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3800 Hillcrest Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610 and Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s Street, Fourth Floor, Raleigh, NC 27605.
