A funeral for Sara Louise Beatrice Smith Oliver, 89, of Winston-Salem, N.C. will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. She was the wife of Herbert Bernard Oliver and the mother of Adrian Oliver Wood, both of Stafford County.
Mrs. Oliver, a native and lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was a 1932 graduate of Winston-Salem Teachers College and attended North Carolina Central University and the University of Cincinnati. She retired as an elementary school teacher from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system.
She held numerous community and national memberships and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by a son; a brother; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Winston-Salem State University, c/o Athletic Department, Box 19420, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27110.
