Diana (Forster) Panizzi, 85, of Spring Valley, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 1, 2024, at her home.
The funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Diana will begin at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish (St. Anthony Church) in Spring Valley. Rev. Scott Potthoff will officiate. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Spring Valley at a later date. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Visitation for Diana will be held Saturday, at the church, from 9:30 AM until time of funeral services.
The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is honored to be assisting the family.
Diana was born on July 26, 1938 in Peru to Ralph and Mary (McGraw) Forster. She attended St. Joseph Grade School, St. Joseph Commercial High School, and then graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1956. She married Eugene Panizzi on February 7, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Peru. They were married 43 years before his passing in 2002.
Diana was previously employed by Illinois Bell, Bassick's in Spring Valley, and she then retired from the records and admission office at I.V.C.C. after 20 years.
She was a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Parish, the Mother Cabrini Sodality, and the St. Margaret Hospital Auxiliary. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, trips to the gambling boat, and visiting with friends over old fashioneds at The Big House, especially with her life-long friend, Carol Schloeder.
Diana is survived by her daughter, Mary K. (Wayne) Temple; her son, Mike (Heather) Panizzi; her daughter-in-law, Bree Panizzi; five grandchildren, Brandon (Angela) Templeton, Jessica (Steven) Newcomer, Jake Temple, Vince and Mia Panizzi; along with her three great grandchildren, Sophia, Bryce, and Beckham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene; and her son, Doug Panizzi.
Memorials may be directed to the family or donor's choice.
