Dick, unfortunately I just found out about your passing two years after you went to the Lord. I knew you well through your fine Dad Wendell who was as a father to all of us at Stoneham High. I so enjoyed playing against your Senior team in Reading on Thanksgiving day with that wonderful team you Captained and Quarterbacked. This photo below of myself at midfield will be kept forever as a day in the sun of our wonderful youth. You, lived at a true inspiration, although far too short, but you shall live in the hearts of all those who knew you and respected the light in which you lived. RIP my friend.. Frank 'Lefty' Pignone , Stoneham High School 1961.

In your leave of presence, as expected, you pulled a few stings and made sure the Red Sox won in Boston. How about taking one for the team and helping the Yankees next year? Think about and let us know in the spring. I will forever wish we had more time with you, especially now with Grayson...but what will be, will be. I am one of the lucky ones to have gotten to know you and could not have picked a better father-in-law. Grayson will live and thrive through your legacy. RIP

Grew up in Reading with Dick and played Little League baseball with him on the "Red Sox". Also, a Dartmouth classmate. Wonderful guy and sportsman. My deepest condolences to his family. Hank Amon (New York City)

So sad to learn this news! Went to Reading High and Dartmouth College with Dick and always thought of him as the ultimate class act. Although we never kept in close contact after high school graduation I always thought of him as a terrific role model and leader---what an incredible athlete and an even better person! My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Dick was such a wonderful person. He and I worked together with his canine inspection company and I enjoyed the banter he and I had over New England Sports and love for life.
I am going to miss him tremendously and the talks we would have.
Such a wonderful man strong spirited and just wonderful in every way
blessings and my warmest thoughts and condolences.
He will be missed by all of us here at Chainstore Maintenance Inc

I sure have great memories of Peal St. School - elementary in Reading. Dick and Ken were terrific kids even then. They made the class of 1961 the greatest. I am stunned that he is gone. Svea Carlson Nardo

What a wonderful guy and good friend. We had so many laughs, particularly playing golf and then going back to his mother's house for a supper. Always home made chocolate sauce for the ice cream. Sometimes Bruce would be around. What a great family.

Our mutual friend, Peter Strassel, informed me of Dick's passing. Clearly, a shame and way to early. It was great for me to get to know Dick in later years at a few events we both attended. As the writing points out, he was a great athlete but his legacy to me will be the nice person he was. The last time I saw him he gave me a hug and whispered a very personal thought to me. Thank you for saying that to me, Dick, I treasure the words you said, and may you rest in peace.
