Elaine Matteucci Obituary
Elaine Iliana Matteucci lived a full and happy life, passing at 93 on September 18, 2016 in Chicago, IL, her home town. Elaine was committed to her family. She met the love of her life, George Matteucci, as a teenager in Chicago. Both were children of working-class, Italian immigrants. They were married in their early 20's and raised their four children, Rick(Joyce), Rob(Carla), Steve(Genny) and Susan(Mike) in Cincinnati, Ohio after George was promoted to a new job with 3M. Elaine and George were married for 66 years, and were best friends. Elaine and George shared a passion for family and music. Elaine had a beautiful, alto voice and was often heard singing the lyrics of famous Italian opera pieces. She sang in the church choir in Ohio, taught elementary students the lyrics of opera as a volunteer, and hosted an annual Christmas carol-singing party for the neighbors in the small suburb of Greenhills. After 20 years living in Ohio, Elaine and George moved back to the Chicago area, where they continued to enjoy family, friends and music. Elaine was preceded in her death by her beloved husband George, daughter-in-law Linda and sister Mary. Her survivors include her four children, nine grandchildren(Mike, Christina, Mark, Danny, Jimmy, Elaine, Phil, Ben and George) seven great-grandchildren(Matthew, Griffin, Lucas, Elise, Kenley, Marlowe and Luca), sister Cora and her loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23 from 3-8pm at Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison Street, Willowbrook, IL 60527. Funeral services will be held at Adolf Funeral Home at 10am on Saturday, September 24, with interment following at the Bronswood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Independence to help children with motor disabilities, www. center-for-independence.org.
