Barbara Ann Williams Woodward

Barbara Ann Williams Woodward, 77, of Lakeville, CT died June 12, 2017 in Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Robert Clark Woodward. Barbara was born January 31, 1940 in New Orleans, LA, the daughter of Claude Miller Williams and Laura Fenner Williams. She attended Newman School and Newcomb College. She taught elementary school in New Orleans before meeting Robert and moving to New England. She married Robert in 1965, and they moved to Cambridge and then Weston, MA, where they lived until 1999, when they retired and moved to Lakeville, CT. Barbara raised four children in Weston and taught at Whittemore House Nursery School for many years. After retiring and moving to Connecticut, she volunteered at the Salisbury Central School. Barbara was a gifted teacher and had a natural ability to relate to children of any age. She was artistic and creative and nurtured those abilities in her students and children. She enjoyed multiple trips to Italy and Switzerland, with the Matterhorn being her highlight. While Barbara shared her husband's passion for gardening, beyond a doubt her greatest joy came from enjoying time with her four children and six grandsons. She is survived by her four children, Robert (Bo) Clark Woodward Jr. and his wife Mary-Ann Matyas of Cambridge, MA, Laura Fenner Woodward of Newton, MA, Ann Miller Woodward of Grosse Pointe Park, MI, and Peter Hallett Woodward and his wife Danielle of Narragansett, RI; and six grandchildren, Samuel Fenner Woodward, Theodore Francis Woodward, Gustavo Peter Woodward, Nicolas Clark Woodward, Benjamin Thomas Woodward and Nathaniel Robert Woodward. She is also survived by her brother Claude Williams of Homewood, AL. She is predeceased by her sister Laura Williams Campbell of New Orleans, LA. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon, CT. Service and burial will be Saturday, June 24, 2017. Reception to follow at 4 Lakeview Ave, Lakeville, CT.
