Edward J. Breen Jr. April 1, 1934 - December 27, 2012 Canterbury - Edward J. Breen Jr. 78, of Canterbury died Thursday morning at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Norwich on April 1, 1934 the son of the late Edward J. and June (Britt) Breen Sr. Ed was employed for a number of years as a truck driver for Teamsters Local 493 before retiring. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #34 in Taftville. He was a avid fisherman and gardener and loved to travel with his wife and going camping with thier RV. On September 30, 1984 he married Mercy (Macapolo) Breen in the Philippines who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Dennis Breen and his wife Donna of Kentucky. Two daughters, Linda Breen and Pamela Breen both of Griswold. One brother, Thomas Breen and family of Norwich. One sister, Shiela (Breen) Messier and her husband Andy of Griswold. A half brother George Britt Jr. and his wife Pat of Norwich. He also leaves his mother-in-law Luz Macapolo of Canterbury, his sister-in-law Teresa Macapolo and her fiance Johann Revoet of Norwich. Five brothers in-laws and families in the Philippines and a brother-in-law and family in Australia and nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a half brother Roger Britt and his father-in-law Felicano Macapolo. Funeral services will be held Sunday January 6th at 2:00 P.M. at the Guillot Funeral Home 75 South B. St. Taftville. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of S.E.CT. 227 Dunham St. Norwich, CT 06360.
