Fred Rennert Obituary

RENNERT--Fred, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on Monday, September 24th, 2007 after a courageous battle with Gastric Cancer at the age of 82. He was born in Mannheim, Germany on April 2nd, 1925. Fred was a shining light to all who knew him. During World War II he was a prisoner of war in Germany and saved his company from certain death since he spoke fluent German. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals for his heroic service. He most certainly exemplified the men in the book. "The Greatest Generation". Fred was always thankful he could return from the war and live a full and productive life, and that he did. He lived life to the fullest in every sense of the word and to all those he met he brought the brightest smile. Fred Rennert, beloved husband of Corinne, his wife of 57 wonderful years, loving father to his daughter Debra of Delray Beach, FL and son Richard of Tarrytown, NY. Devoted grandfather to Scott, Amanda, Sara and Julia, and brother to Esther. He will be missed ALWAYS.

My son Robert was Fred's son-in-law. While Robert's father Lou was a wonderful father, he was completely disinterested in sports.
In Fred, Robert found a second father with whom he could share his love of football, baseball, etc. They sat together often in this activity and became very close. While Fred and Corrine lived in Tarrytown, Debra and Robert spent every weekend with them. I shall remember Fred's wonderful personality, his sweet smile and courage in the face of so many problems with his health.
My friend Harold and I extend our deepest sympathy to dear Corrine,
Debra and Robert, Ricky and Roz,
Amanda & Scott, Sarah and Julia and
Aunt Esther and all the family.
Fred will be deeply missed.

I just wish I could have visited with Fred more often. Although we didn't see each other often enough, I consider him a true Brother of mine.
He was a very courageous man who didn't let much bother him. If it wasn't for him I know I wouldn't be here today, including 13 others in the prison camp and the German farm where we were like slaves for many months.
Fred was the man we depended upon so much for help. Fred, even today is a 'MAN FOR ALL SEASONS". I will remember him always as though he is standing by my side. May God love him and keep him. Please carry on and I'm sure your family will watch over you during this very sad period. I hope that someday we may meet and talk again.

Fred was an extraordinary and rare person whom I came to know by chance when six years ago we bought the last remaining lot with a view and contiguous to Fred's. We have been a part time resident a couple of weeks here and there but soon we became not only friendly neighbor but also genuine friends sharing many realities of life.

Even during our short visits, Fred and Corrine always found time to have dinner at our club house with many jokes, laughter and surprises we have to deal with in our respective lives. Fred always impressed me with his generosity, open-mindedness and courage as he saved many GI war prisoners in Germany during the war. Fred often mentioned his writing on his war experience he hoped to publish someday. In fact, only a couple of months ago at our last four-some dinner, Fred, Corrine, Kim and me, Fred reminiscence his war buddies in tears and we were very impressed by his concern for other people.

I am very privileged to know such a wonderful person sharing friendship, our life's experience and even small things such as the breath taking, beautiful sunset view from our windows overlooking the canal, the golf course we played and the palm tree dotted Aberdeen horizon in reddish twilight together. When I saw Corrine, Debbie and Bob last week during the short visit by myself I had the memorable moments of Fred's loving presence when I touched the dog-tag Debbie hung around her neck which was once worn by Fred during the war when the life itself was in danger. Fifty seven years long successful marriage and family with abundant love is the proof that he had a good rewarding life.

Fred will be missed by all of us deeply touched by his good life.
Adieu Fred. Young and Kim Lee 6857 Southport Drive.

I was seventeen when I met Teddy and Freddy. I married Teddy on April 11, 1948 and Freddy became our best man. They were inseparable; partners in mischief. And as time went by and we all lived our lives, we always ended up getting back together. I saw Fred and Corrine last year since we always seemed to get together at least once when I was in Florida. Fred never complained. We'd speak every once in a while and he never complained about his health. They say old friends are the best friends. I will miss knowing he is there. I am grateful for the memories we shared for many, many years.

With my love and sympathy to Corrine, children, and family-

Fred was our dear friend for 17 years. We spent vacations and our Sunday Mornings at POPPIES were the highlight of our week. He always had a good story or joke, and our discussions were the best. If you go through life gaining a few friends you are very lucky. Fred was one of them. We will miss him. His memory will remain in our hearts forever.

Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Fred for the last seven years, we bcame good friends.Fred , Leonard and I looked forward to our twice weekly golf games. None of us would qualify for the tour, but we just had a lot of fun. It was just fun being on the course with Fred. I never ceased to be amazed by Fred`s cheerfulness every time we were together in spite of his many health problems. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word.I will miss that daily wave and smile and the stories he loved to tell us as we struggled with our golf game. Rest in peace,Fred

Uncle Fred was a wonderful role model. He approached life with a smile and always saw the positive side of every situation. He was a great husband, father and brother. I loved being with him and especially hearing him sing the Passover Haggadah songs and presenting his poems and songs at special family events. He will be sorely missed by all.

Fred was a survivor. Although he came up against frequent obstacles in his life, he fought to get through them. Part of the reason was because of the support and love of his wife, Corrine and adoring daughter Debbie and her husband, Bob. His love for his grandchildren was imeasurable.
He was a wonderful man who lived life to the fullest. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
