MOSES NUSSBAUM Obituary

NUSSBAUM--Moses, MD. The entire Beth Israel Medical Center family acknowledges with profound sadness the passing of our dear friend, dedicated surgeon and respected colleague, Moses Nussbaum, MD. Moe's career at Beth Israel spanned an amazing 56 years. He held many important positions at the Medical Center, most notably Chairman of the Department of Surgery from 1993 to 2000. In addition, Moe was a longtime member of the Beth Israel Medical Board, and led and served on many of its committees and subcommittees. He also was honored throughout his career by grateful patients who supported Beth Israel philanthropically in appreciation of the care he provided. In recognition of his life's work, Beth Israel established in 1999 the Moses Nussbaum, MD, Memorial Lecture, which is given each year by a prominent speaker on an important topic in the field of surgery. Moe also was incredibly dedicated to the education and training of our medical students, interns and residents. To his beloved wife, Esther, his children, Judy, Gabriel and Tamara, the entire Nussbaum family and all who knew him and loved him, we offer our heartfelt condolences. Lawrence S. Huntington Chairman, Board of Trustees Harris M. Nagler, MD President Sheldon Simon, MD President, Medical Board Martin S. Karpeh, Jr., MD Chairman Dept. of Surgery Mark Persky, MD Chairman, Dept. of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery

As a former employee of BIMC, and former patient of Dr. Nussbaum, I'm deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He was there for me when I had thyroid cancer. He was a genuinely nice person. God bless him and his family.
