BOUGHNER--Susan Gail, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many, passed away peacefully and with grace on July 11, 2023 at the young age of 74. Her mother Ruth Goldstein, husband Steven Boughner, brother Ken Goldstein, daughter Jennifer Mihajlov and husband Rob Mihajlov, daughter Sara Freiberg, grandchildren Jordyn Mihajlov, Lucas Mihajlov, Jacob Freiberg, Logan Freiberg and Jamie Freiberg, brothers-in-law Bob Boughner and Dominik Kuna, sisters-in-law Andrea Reister and Marty Ashley, Lisa Boughner and brother-in-law Rob Sheinkopf and dear friend Yvette Glick Shukat, stood by Susan's side to keep her warm, quench her thirst, and hold her hand. Susan will miss Alice and Bruce, Frank and Anita, JoAnne and Franny, and so many others. Susan and Steven were married on March 23, 1969. Anyone who knew Susan knew that all friends were family and family was everything to her. She saw and did as much as she could in her lifetime. No matter what the circumstances, she smiled through it all. Everyone remembered her smile. She is known for that inner light. She wouldn't hurt a fly (quite literally) and makes being kind and thoughtful a career. Susan and Steven's house has always been an open one. Kids and adults of all ages were welcomed. No one was left out from a holiday dinner. Ever. No one. Ever. Old friends, new friends, new new friends, old new friends. All ages, all walks of life, all important. In the early years Susan was a teacher, a very good one at that. However, design was her true passion and SB Interiors/Exteriors was a very successful business. Pinboards, fabric swatches, paint swatches, sketch books were a part of her daily life. She made time for her precious daughters and their children, whether it was Sunday dinner, school activities or a visit to summer camp. Susan loved Broadway. And cooking. And fine dining. And carvel cake and chocolate ice cream. And travel. And The New York Times Crossword Puzzles. And Square Dancing. Susan dressed to the nines. She had not only style, but substance as well. She showed many of us how to be a good person. And we know that Susan has all the pictures and shared them with a big smile and an occasional frown. Susan was an eternal optimist. She focused on the goodness, the sweetness, the happiness...and Steven. He will greatly miss her. Animals and animal welfare were cherished by Susan. Memorial gifts in Susan's name can be sent to
