Dear Bloom Family, I was shocked to read of Bill's passing. I first met Bill at Mt. Sinai residency program and we were life long friends. My sincere condolences to you all.

I was friends with Bill and Barbara for over 30 years. They were both unique and remarkable people. I went to Bill's book signing at Barnes and Nobles several years ago and read his autobiography. Besides being a genius he had a terrific personality and would tell interesting and funny stories about his life. I assisted him in many surgical procedures and was very impressed by his surgical ability. He actually taught me how to do neurosurgery. He was one of the best surgeons I have ever scrubbed with. He will be missed by me and his friends and family and all the patients whose lives he saved. He was a great man. Harvey Manes, MD

Bill was a rare fellow indeed: so very accomplished; charming, affable & full of life. As a Green Mountain former staff member & alumna ('60), I'll remember always his never-failing dedication to the college. But more so, his dancing, whenever, wherever. He certainly did brighten many a reunion, and made us girls feel like each of us was the best partner he ever had!
Warm thoughts to all the family, and sympathy for this huge loss. But, he will live on.

Dear Jeffrey and Jonathan ... how sad to learn another super GMC 40s guy has left us .. but hope he is with all his friends
and having another great reunion!
Ralph and I had such fun with your Dad and Mom - Barbara
was the only person I met who knew more about music
than my operatic tenor husband! And Bill was such a
dear friend to Ralph ... especially attentive when Ralph was
so ill.
You and the family have big shoes to fill!
My deepest sympathy and much love go out to you all,
Helen Marquiss
