James Post Obituary

James H. Post, 82, of Washington, formerly of Prosperity, died Thursday, June 1, 2023 in Premier Washington Health Center, Washington.

He was born October 17, 1940 in Washington, a son of the late James Paul and Sarah Trussell Post.

James attended Trinity High School, became a school bus driver for Bumps-Wolfe of Lagonda, Central Cab of Waynesburg and McGuffey School District. He later worked for Reihner's Service Station in Washington, John McLaughlin's Garage in Prosperity, then owned and operated his own business, "Jim's Garage" for 24 years as a certified inspection mechanic, as well as working as a self-independent truck driver for over 23 years for Gladden Trucking, retiring from Besl Trucking in 2002.

He was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church in Prosperity.

On February 12, 1966 in Prosperity, he married Betty Bice and had the pleasure of renewing their wedding vows for both, their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries. Mrs. Post survives.

Jim enjoyed life to the fullest, never met a stranger, would talk to everyone, was an avid hunter, played guitar and sang country music, always ready to have coffee and doughnuts with family and friends.

Also surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Fritz (Leslie) Briggs and James K. (Bridget) Post, both of Washington, and Mark A. (Tammy) Post of Hickory; five grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Johnathan and Lydia Post and Cortney Briggs; a niece, Myrna (Craig) Phillips; two great- nieces, Jennifer and Tracy; and a great-great nephew, Michael.

Deceased are two sisters, Marlene Cummins and Betty Good, and his beloved grandfather, Lewis B. Trussell.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and all the staff at Premier Washington Health Center and to Gateway Hospice for their care and compassion, also a "thank-you" to Pastor Cody Rogers.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cody Rogers officiating. Mr. Post was my bus driver for many years! I grew up in Prosperity- Sparta, to be exact. I remember his sense of humor and his polka dotted hat! He was a nice man. Condolences to his family. Trisha Bird
