Rose Bates Obituary

Rose (Kelley) Bates (nee Hadinger)

Rose (Kelley) Bates (nee Hadinger), 97, passed away on January 29, 2009, in Brimfield, Ohio at the Altercare Post Acute Rehabilitation Center.

She was born to Elizabeth (Just) and Nicholas Hadinger on October 1, 1911, in Györköny, Austria-Hungary. Rose immigrated to the U.S. with her mother and sister, Elizabeth, on October 28, 1912 and later became a naturalized citizen. She attended school in Clinton, Ohio. She was united in holy matrimony to John (Jack) William Kelley of Akron, Ohio on July 13, 1931. They were married for 25 years until Jack's passing on August 12, 1956. Their union was blessed with three children, John William, Frank Nicholas and Rose Elizabeth. After Jack's death, she was employed in the accounting department of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company from 1959-1975. In 1968, Rose was married again to Glenn J. Bates of Kinsman, Ohio. Glenn passed away in 1995.

Rose was a member of The Liberty Bible Church in Atwater, Ohio since it was founded in 1994. She provided her family with strong moral and ethical values, and a love of family, the need for generosity, and dedication to Christ and his church. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, devoted sister and servant of God, Rose was a caring grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose spirit of strength and support will be greatly missed by her entire family. Rose was an accomplished dressmaker, gardener and cook, who delighted in teaching a variety of crafts to relatives and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and donated over one hundred caps for newborns at Robinson Hospital. She founded the Randolph Hobby Club, and was a member of the Randolph Garden Club and Ladies Cemetery Association of Randolph.

Rose is survived by her sons, John William Kelley III (Jane) of Randolph, Ohio, Frank Nicholas Kelley (Judith) of Hudson and Sherrodsville, Ohio; daughter, Rose Elizabeth Bovard (Art, dec.), of Mogadore, Ohio; nine grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret Wilhelm of Atwater, Ohio, Christina (Kazee) Ross of Christiansburg, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Nicholas Hadinger of Atwater, Ohio, and John Hadinger of Limaville, Ohio and sister Elizabeth (Oziomek) Drop of Akron, Ohio.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main Street, Ravenna. Reverend Paul Phillips of Liberty Bible Church will officiate. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Randolph, Ohio. Please visit www.mem.com to share memories.

We were so very lucky to have you for 97 years, Mom. Your passing has left a huge hole in my heart. My only regret was that we couldn't take care of you at home. You are at peace now and pain free. Will see you and Daddy again in eternity. Love you, your daughter.

Our dear Rose,
We send you our love and sympathy at the passing of your mother and our friend. We remember so well through the years how talented and creative she was. We always enjoyed a family gathering where she was included. She seemed to have great ideas on anything you needed. Her smile and
laughter was infectious. She has long suffered more than we would have wished for her. Now she is at peace and rest in Heaven with our Loving Heavenly Father. No more pain, no more sorrow, only beautiful memories for tomorrow.
May you now rest in His Peace and Love, knowing you fulfilled your
desires in caring for her to the end.
May sweet memories of all the past years just flood the minds of you, Jack and Frank, and their families reminding you often of how precious her life was as she shared it with you.
God bless you all.
