Melody R. Kerr, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister

OLEAN - Melody R. Kerr, of 401 Alder St., passed away on Sunday (May 23, 2021) at the Harris Hill Nursing Facility, following a brief illness.

Melody was born on July 28, 1955, in South Bend, Ind., a daughter of William C. and Loretta Stahlman Simon. She was a 1973 graduate of Olean High School.

Melody worked in retail for many years including Grant's Fish & Chips and Bradner's Department Store.

She was a member of the Revival Center in Olean. Melody loved painting ceramics, reading the Bible, listening to the talking Bible and working with her hanging flowers.

Melody is survived by a son, Eric Kerr of Derby; six grandchildren, including Justin Zetwick, Brayden Kerr, Elijah Czajkowski-Kerr, and Peyton Czajkowski, which she loved all of them to the moon and back; a sister, Jane Lowe of Olean; two nephews, Bill (Christine) Simon and Steven Lowe; a special great-nephew, Colby Gibbons; a special aunt who helped her a lot, Annabelle Woods; three other aunts, Ella Tobin, Bonnie Jeffers and Verna Slater; a special friend and neighbor who helped her, Jim Gleason; a special county worker that worked with her for 20 years that she adored, Jill Schmidt; a special CNA, Sonya McCall; and several cousins.

Melody was predeceased by her mother, Loretta Faye Simon; her father, William Charles Simon; and several aunts and uncles.

Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday (May 29, 2021) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean, at which time a funeral service will be held. The Rev. Ronald Frazier, pastor of the Olean Revival Center, will officiate.
